This creative partnership has offered an experience of 'Anam Cara' or 'soul friendship' through days of reflection for school and parish communities,
sabbaticals for headteachers and long serving members of staff, school visits,
a range of professional development experiences and one to one confidential professional and pastoral support.
The real essence of 'Anam Cara' has been to walk alongside colleagues in a spirit of positive and enthusiastic companionship, rooted in Christ.
Opportunities for Creative Support have included:-
w Days of reflection, celebration and spiritual formation with a particular
emphasis on reviewing the school's mission statement
w Visits to Church schools with practical feedback to staff and governors,
offering challenge, affirmation and celebration
w Supporting and developing the prayer life of the school
w Exploring our Celtic Christian heritage through days of reflection and
pilgrimage
w Creating school quiet gardens
w Nurturing parish, deanery, home and school links
w Assisting the Church school's contribution to the common good and social
cohesion
w facilitating gentle days of pilgrimage, retreat and prayerful reflection for
all staff
w Supporting schools to develop appropriate responses to bereavement and
loss among children and young people
CHANGES FROM SEPTEMBER 2011
From September 2011, the ministry of Anam Cara will be much more locally based as a result of some personal and health changes.
Sue is now Acting National Director of Rainbows Bereavement Support GB, a busy but exciting and important role which takes her all over Great Britain and indeed to Ireland. She can be contacted at sue.rainbowsgb@btconnect.com
Frank will be much more home based in his ministry but will be keeping his writing and involvement with Encircling Publications going and his interest in the Quiet Garden in his own parish. He will also be continuing to encourage schools to take on Rainbows in his role as Trustee and aid to Sue ... in addition of course to being a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend! He won't be wondering what to do!
Unfortunately he won't be leading any more courses, conferences, pilgrimages, sabbaticals or retreats apart from one day in October, one in November and the termly meetings in York for headteachers thinking about retiring.
Resources will still be available from Anam Cara or from Encircling Publications.
Frank may be contacted directly at anam.cara@btconnect.com
With every best wish and in prayer
Frank and Sue
